Spotify says that support for external payment on iOS has already increased membership

Spotify says that its ability to direct its customers to direct its outer payment link in its iOS app has a positive impact on sale. A newly filed amicus in support of the epic sports in the legal battle with Apple on external payments on the app store, Spotify claims that its internal data indicates that its recent updates support “IOS users have a significant increase in upgrading to a premium membership.”

The US district court in Northern California ruled in favor of the Fortnite Maker Epious Games in the external payment case, Apple finally forced Apple to allow its customers to direct their customers to direct their customers to pay their customers to pay from within their iOS app without paying.

Now, iOS app developers in the US can choose to tell their customers about web billing options and what is exempted to pay directly.

Spotify was one of the first to update his iOS app to take advantage of the new policy. The updated version tells customers what membership is, indicating them to its website to buy, and allows users to buy audibook directly.

The results are largely positive, Spotify has written in the new filing.

“The order of 2025 has created enough benefits to the developers and more importantly -” said in the filing. “Spotify's internal data suggests that its iOS app update has resulted in a significant increase in upgrading a premium membership in iOS users already. Compliance with Apple has also enabled new product innovations that were not possible without prohibitory orders.”

Spotify stated that its revised “Premium Destination Page” in its iOS app tells free users how to upgrade a payment subscription by giving information about prices and checkout page links. Since adding links and pricing information, Spotify says that this has been observed the immediate effect of changes.

In two weeks, the new page has gone live, Spotify says that the rate of conversions from free to premium tier remains “relatively stable” on Android, where Spotify is already capable of giving information about basic pricing.

Meanwhile, the conversion rate between iOS users has increased significantly, the company says.

“This strongly suggests that the increase is due to the apple to comply with the prohibition for the order of 2025,” Spotify wrote. Furthermore, the company adds that the impact on audibook purchase has begun only three days after the launch of new product options.

Spotify refused to share specific numbers related to growth when arrived for comments.

Its briefly connects to Microsoft and others in support of Epic Games, as Apple tries to fight the prohibition that enhances its US app store business.

The Apple does not want to follow the court's decision, which is in the process of appealing, until all legal matters are completely resolved.

This tried to keep Fortnite of Epic Games out of the app store for the same reason, but the judge pressured Apple to return the game in the app store or allow them to return to court, to explain why Apple was in non-compliance with the ruling.

On Tuesday, Fortnight went live on the US app store after a five -year gap.

The case between Apple and EPIC is now in the US Court of appeals for the ninth circuit. Apple filed an emergency resolution to return to his old policy, while its appeal was going on. However, the court decided to give the proposal, stating that the panel of judges would follow the default briefing schedule and then rule the proposal in “Dew Time”.
