Flash back for the day about a year. I was sitting in a half -manufactured demo area playing on the Samsung Prototype Gaming Monitor. The company loaded PK lies -One of the last year of my favorite games-and I was proceeding through a midgame Mad clown puppet mini-boss. It was not just the standard gameplay, though. It was glasses-free 3D, and it worked well that I was able to play a game. PK lies Construction without breaking a sweat between noise and blind lights.
In CES 2025, Samsung is turning that prototype into a real product with Odyssey 3D.
Glass-free 3D monitors have been around for a few years, but Odissi 3D distinguishes itself from the monitor such as Acer Predator Spatiallabs 27 to see how it handles the 3D image. Most glasses-free 3D technology requires any integration of any kind. In the case of spatiallabs, you can only use 3D effects on supported games. On the other hand, Samsung's Odissi 3D uses a light field display (LFD) technology to create 3D images from 2D materials.
The Samsung is able to pull it with a lenticular lens on the front panel of the monitor. It divides the image that goes to each eye, allowing them to get a slightly different view to simulate that 3D effect. There is also a built -in stereo camera and persistent visual mapping, tracking their eyes, as they roam to prevent 3D confusion.
The prototype I tried last year was already very impressive – so impressive that I forgot that I was sitting in a CES demo. Hopefully, an additional year to cook has made technology even better.
Originally, Samsung called it a 2D/3D monitor, and this is not a mistake. Not only can it simulate 3D on 2D content, but also works in Monitor standard 2D mode. It also comes with some respectable glasses. It is a 27-inch monitor that packing a super-Sharp 4K resolution, and it comes with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1MS gray-to-gra-gray reaction time.
For now, Samsung is wrapping some details. We do not know what the ports are in the monitor, nor would it be released. Seriously, Samsung has also not revealed how much Odissi 3D will cost. I suspect that it will run a lot of money, but we just have to wait until it is more to share Samsung.
