Qualcomm has unveiled Snapdragon X70, which is the latest advancement in its 5G modem technology, which promises to provide even more 5G experiences for the next generation of smartphones and tablets.
The successor of Snapdragon X65 in this year's Samsung Galaxy S22 flagship smartphone lineup, X70 thanks to even more powerful abilities for new AI features.
In fact, Qualcomm Snapdragon Bills X70 as the “world's first 5G AI processor”, designed to use machine learning, which is to provide the best possible 5G performance to ensure the power efficiency required for low delay and mobile devices.
What does Snapdragon X70 bring to the table
Snapdragon has been emphasizing more on the Qualcomm Signal Reception, from the last few generations of 5G chips. Snapdragon X65 offered a new algorithm, which helped maximize the strength of the signal by dynamically adjusting the radio power that a person is holding and using his smartphone.
The X70 AI-leading with a complete suit of AI-based features, which covers everything from MMWAVE beam management and antenna tuning to network selection and power consumption.
It is not only about maximizing performance, either. Qualcomm also adds that the base on top of the X70 mmwave spectrum will support each commercial 5G band from 600mHz to 41GHz. This will help smartphone makers to create the best equipment possible for each of their global markets.
Snapdragon X70 X65 has a similar 10 gigabit 5G peak download speed, but new AI features with 4x downlink carrier aggregation, it will be very close to achieve those speeds. Qualcomm's third generation of Poversav technology and 4Nm chip design allowed it to be done on much lower power than before, which means battery life.
In the company's press release, Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm's 5G, mobile broadband and infrastructure, says “Snapdragon X70 is an example of how we are feeling the full potential of 5G and making an intelligent world possible.”
Snapdragon X70 will start entering the hands of the smartphone manufacturer later this year. This means that the first equipment to include it can reach the end of 2022, and it is appropriate to say that it will probably build the core of next year's Samsung S23 smartphone. Meanwhile, Apple has yet to apply Snapdragon X65; The rumor is that the X65 will fall on the iPhone 14 in this decline, but it also means that Apple fans will have to wait by the end of 2023 that it will be the next generation to look at the 5G modem technique.
