Microsoft Edge’s free VPN may become its must-have feature

Can there be a free VPN service that is made in a browser, can you remove from Google's popular chrome? Microsoft hopes that the company is starting to roll an experimental VPN service for its age browser called Microsoft Edge Secure Network Service designed around privacy and security.

Unlike popular VPN services, which protect all traffic from your smartphones, tablets, or laptops, Microsoft's Edge Secure Network Service only protects the traffic from the company's Microsoft Edge browser, which originally began with Windows 10.

The company promises that Edge Secure Network Services will help encryp your connection and increase your privacy when browsing the Internet by stopping online trekking and keeping your place private. The best thing is that the Microsoft Edge offer is free, unlike the browser VPN service underlying with rival Mosilla with Firefox.

“Microsoft Edge Helps keep you safe online,” the company has written Aid page About its new service for the edge browser. “However, the networks you connect may not be sufficiently safe. Microsoft Edge Secure Network can help protect your devices and sensitive data as you browse.”

The warning with this free service is that it is limited to only 1GB browsing data per month when you are signed with your Microsoft account. Given the low limit, you may not want to funnel all traffic through VPN, and when you are working with personal, private or sensitive data like financial transactions and online banking, you will want to enable service.

Low range can offer VPN less attractive to more nefarious uses, such as those who want to hide their identity for illegal downloads and streams.

According to Microsoft, the age secure network is powered by Cloudflare, which promises that the data collected will be removed every 25 hours. Cloudflare Microsoft's browser-based solution also operates its own WARP VPN service in addition to giving power to the edge.

Windows maker explained her new service, “When using Microsoft Edge Secure Network, your data is rooted from the edge via an encrypted tunnel to create a safe connection, even when using a non-safe URL, which starts with HTTP.” “This makes it difficult for hackers to access your browsing data on a shared public Wi-Fi network.”

Microsoft said that service also makes a virtual IP address that replaces your geolocation data with a similar regional address to make it difficult for online trackers to estimate your specific location.

Beyond the 1GB monthly data range, Microsoft did not provide details whether an alternative payment tier would be introduced to heavy users, or if users will be cut off from VPN access until next month when your use is reset. Although Microsoft's age still looks at Google's Chrome with a long shot, the company's browser is making inroads for users.

According to data StatcounterGoogle Chrome commanded the market during the period from March 2021 to March 2022. Edge defeated both Mozilla Firefox and Apple's safari, finished second with entry into the market of only 10% of 10% during the same period.

The new age browser VPN is currently in preview and is not widely available to all edge users on the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating system. The edge is also available on other platforms, including iOS, Android and Macos. Microsoft has not given details about when the service will be officially launched to all users. The service also competes against the free browser-based VPN solution of opera.
