Amazon always wants Alexa to become an end-all and B-All Assistant. Thanks to a new update, this is a step close. Alexa can now tell you if it looks at one of your safety cameras. Also, if you have an Eco show or fire TV, Alexa may automatically draw a live video feed of the subject.
Amazon recently allowed third -party companies to disclose a new API and tap in this new facility. As a result, companies such as Google, Ring and Abod have already added a person's recognition to their video safety doorbels. According to Amazon, all the videos of the ring doorbells and cameras should now be updated, while Google's Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Cam Fladlight, and Nest Doorbel will soon get updates. In addition, the IOTA and outdoor cameras of the absorpion will also get updates.
The detection of the package is considered a separate feature. Ring Video Doorbel Pro 2 and Ring Doorbel (2020) will get this facility soon, as well as two cameras of Abod. Unfortunately, no camera of Google will get updates, even if they have a package-detection feature. However, Google has access to API and she can later add convenience to her cameras.
With this update and new features added to these devices, you can set automation with new triggers. For example, if a particular camera sees a person or package, you can turn a light to Alexa or unlock a door, for example.
To enable these features on compatible cameras, you have to use the Alexa app. First, allow the person or package to detect on camera itself. Each manufacturer has its own way of doing so. Then in the Alexa app, for doorbells or camera settings, where you or you will be able to enable both settings. After that, you can accommodate each feature settings in a new category called “camera events”.
Unfortunately, if the manufacturer charges these features, you will have to pay to use the Alexa-centered version. For example, ring users will have to subscribe to the ring protect plan for $ 3 per month, while Abod users will have to be on an absode plan for $ 7 per month. Fortunately, Google does not charge for these features, so Alexa integration is free.
These features may take a few days to show, but keep an eye on the Alexa app when your devices are ready.
