Verizon is finally getting a Samsung Galaxy S20 5G. To first news announcement earlier this yearFrom March 21, the mobile operator will take pre-orders for the base model of the Samsung flagship phone series. The S20 will be available for sale on June 4 for $ 1,000.

Verizon’s model, known as the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G UW, is a custom version of the Galaxy S20 that provides support for the operator’s millimeter-wave 5G network and the upcoming low-band 5G network, which will be introduced later this year should.

The Galaxy S20, which has been available for AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint for months, only supports 5G in the low-band and mid-band radio spectrum. This is not a problem for network operators where low-band 5G is common. However, Verizon’s current 5G network is based solely on millimeter waves, which required a custom edition of the phone with the right 5G hardware.

Verizon’s millimeter wave network is live in parts of 34 cities and offers faster speeds than lowband or midband 5G, but is very limited in range and does not work in buildings. The low-band and mid-band networks are slower than millimeter waves, but offer much greater coverage and can work indoors and outdoors.

The more expensive Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G and Ultra 5G, which has been sold by all major suppliers since the start, supports all three 5G variants.

Aside from millimeter wave support, Verizon’s S20 5G will be almost identical to other vendors, including the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 4,000 mAh battery, and 6.2-inch 120 Hz display. The Verizon model is available in three colors: Cloud Pink, Cosmic Gray and an exclusive Verizon Cloud White.
