- Carl Pei’s new company, Nothing, has something big planned for next week. It could be the first Nothing product.
- The company would only say that an “important milestone” is planned.
- So far we only have a hint that the company’s first release could be an audio product.
Last week, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced the official name of his new company: Nothing. After the internet crashed over the name, we all found we had no idea what kind of hardware Nothing was going to produce in the first place.
We may not have to wait long. According to a tweet from the official Nothing account, the company has a “important milestone“Scheduled for next week. While there is no confirmation, it is very likely that the milestone will be the launch of the first Nothing product.

While we have no idea if there will be a product launch from the company next week, we at least have an idea of what the first Nothing product might be, whenever it might come. According to an early interview with Pei, he claimed his new, then unannounced company would start with an audio product.

It is possible that nothing can start small with a new set of true wireless earbuds. This would be a way to showcase the company’s design ethos, branding, and market ambitions while ensuring low risk and easy sale. However, Nothing-branded earphones would have to be pretty unique in some ways to stand out from the crowd – which of course includes entries from Pei’s former employer.
Stay tuned, we’ll find out what this major milestone really is next week. We hope that it really is the first Nothing product. If it’s another documentary we’ll be pretty upset.
