The Mandalorian season 1 recap: Where we left off with Baby Yoda and Mando
You know this feeling when you jump into season two of a show like that– or also – almost a year after the last season? You say “who is this guy?” They’re all like, “Who is this guy? What did this guy say when I said, ‘Who is this guy?'”
Let’s just skip that by looking at where all the signs left offwhich took place about five years after the Empire’s defeat in Return of the Jedi, before Baby Yoda and his buddy make theirs come back .
In the season one finale, Mando (real name Din Djarin) was tasked with reuniting Baby Yoda with “his own kind” of the nameless Mandalorian armorer. She also declared them a “Clan of Two” and granted Mando a very cool seal of a mudhorn – the creature Baby Yoda saved him in hers. He’s pretty much the little guy’s dad now.
This is the way.
He also started with one last seasonfor droids as his parents during the. killed by separatist battle droids (He was saved and raised by the Mandalorians). After he was saved from death by the reprogrammed assassin droid IG-11, his anti-mechanical stance softened.
It is unclear whether the reunification(official name “The Child”) with his own way means to track down other members of his species or the Jedi. The latter is more likely given that the little guy has shown some serious power skills.
We know very little about its actual species as Jedi Grand Master Yoda and Jedi Councilor Yaddle are the only others we’ve seen in the canon. The name and homeworld of their species are unknown, but they appear unusually powerful and long-lived – Baby Yoda is around 50 years old and, in fact, Yoda was more than 900 years old when he was in Return of the Jedi died.

Finding Jedi could prove difficult, however, as most of them were wiped out when the Empire came to power. The only Jedi we know is Luke Skywalker, who is likely researching the Order’s past at this point in the timeline. However, if Baby Yoda is trained by Luke, he will likely be killed when Kylo Ren destroys the Jedi Temple (roughly 23 years later on the timeline). So let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
An alternative is Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan. youduring the Clone Wars and a flash forward at the end of revealed that she had survived at least to that point on the timeline. She may no longer be a Jedi, but her understanding of the Force would make her an ideal teacher for the little green.
Season one Big Bad was last seen when he carved himself out of his downed TIE fighter with the– a lightsaber with a black blade and a Mandalorian symbol of leadership. We don’t know how this Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) officer got hold of this weapon, but he looks very cool using it and Mandalorian pride could force it to try to get it back.
Gideon is the leader of an Imperial remnant – one of the many groups that formed after Palpatine’s “death” – on the outer edge of the galaxy. He wants baby Yoda and already has some of his genetic material, but we don’t know why.
Speculative time: He tries to gain powers of power (after serving an empire led by a cackling space wizard) or tries to build an army of powerful warriors. He could serve that toosince the Sith Lord was create a new cloned body for yourself. Baby Yoda could be useful in this.
Cara Dune and Greef Karga
After escaping Gideon’s wrath with Mando and his company, the mercenary rebel soldier Cara decided to become Karga’s enforcer when he rebuilt the bounty hunters’ guild on Nevarro.
After some arguments and betrayal at the beginning of the first season, they separated amicably from Mando and Baby Yoda.
The majority of the Mandalorians were killed in the Great Purge of the Empire, and the survivors went into hiding – the tribe was one such group. They were largely wiped out by the Imperial remnant after helping Mando escape Nevarro, but the armorer suspected some had escaped.
The gunsmith herself was last seen slaughtering a few stormtroopers, but we don’t know what happened to her afterwards.
Mayfield: Mercenary Bill Burr-in-Spacein a New Republic prison cell, along with the Twi’lek Xi-an and the Devaronian Castle.
Dr. Pershing: The scientist who harvested Baby Yoda’s genetic material pleaded that the little guy should be spared from the empire, according to Mando.
I will not come back
Kuiil: He spoke for the last time – the Ugnaught mechanic wasof Imperials when they briefly took back Baby Yoda.
IG-11: The assassin turned nurse self-destructed to wipe out a few stormtroopers and help Mando and friends escape. He’s not the only IG unit in the galaxy, however, so we got to see another like him.
The customer: The creepy but charming Imperial was shot dead by Gideon’s troops after failing to recapture Baby Yoda because this guy is super reckless.
Fennec Shand: This assassin was blown up on Tatooine by bounty hunter Toro Calican, whom Mando killed shortly afterwards. A mysterious personafter that, and that person’s identity is one of the unsolved mysteries of season one.
