The free streaming service has a pretty solid library of titles, but what are the best movies on Freevee, at least currently?

We have 20 movies that we think are worth your time, and they are all currently available on Freevee. You can access the service now at the link below:

He can permanently stay in the real world if the kids keep playing and win the game, and if they survive the many wild animals that also come out.

This is a great film for the whole family, with lots of action and adventure. Robin Williams is also terrific as the man who comes out of the Jumanji game, and has to face a world that has moved on without him.

The Purge (2013)

the purge freevee
  • Rating: R
  • Runtime: 1 hour 25 minutes
  • Director: James DeMonaco
  • Main cast: Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Adelaide Kane
  • Genre: Horror
  • Ratings: 5.7 – IMDB / 40% – Rotten Tomatoes

In the near future, a political party is voted into power in the US and has established one 12-hour period in the year where all crime, including murder, is allowed. The movie centers on a family who stays at home during “The Purge.”  They soon learn that a group of people want to break in and kill them.

The home invasion sub-genre gets a makeover in this movie, and it’s pretty terrifying as a result. Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey’s performances help ground this story and make it believable. While there have been several sequels and even a short-lived TV series based on this movie, the original is still the best.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009)

A scientist has come up with a machine that creates food directly from water vapor in the sky. It seems like a miracle, until major storms start to generate huge portions of food with destructive results.

Animated comedies don’t come much better than this. The premise is perfect for a kid’s movie, but the script and voice acting will keep adults interested as well. You can also watch this movie’s sequel, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, on Freevee.

The Hunt (2020)

A group of rich people decides to kidnap and then kill a group of ordinary people for sport at a secure location. Unfortunately for them, one woman has the skills, and the motivation, to survive and stalk the people who took her.

The classic short story The World’s Most Dangerous Game gets a modern update in this movie with some satirical comments on politics and the class system thrown in for good measure. Betty Gilpin is excellent in one of the best action film roles in recent times.

Tombstone (1993)

Four cowboys walk toward a gunfight in Tombstone - best classic movies on Amazon Prime Video
  • Rating: R
  • Runtime: 2 hours 7 minutes

Unfortunately, the Cowboy gang has other plans for them. The stage is set for a historic showdown between the Earps, and their friend Doc Holliday, against the Cowboy gang.

Kurt Russell leads an all-star cast in one of the best Western action movies ever made. Val Kilmer is also great as Doc Holliday, and while the movie is not historically accurate, it is fun to watch.

Zombieland (2009)

Zombieland Netflix funny movie

A zombie pandemic has reduced the world to just a handful of humans against the undead. Four survivors who have teamed up have decided to make a cross-country trek to California, which may have zombie-free zones.

There are lots of great zombie movies to watch, but this film manages to offer equal helpings of comedy along with the horror. The cast is uniformly great, and there’s an unexpected cameo that will make most people laugh out loud.

Freaky (2020)

Teens walk in a high school hallway in Freaky
  • Rating: R
  • Runtime: 1 hour 42 minutes
  • Director: Christopher Landon
  • Main cast: Vince Vaughn, Kathryn Newton, Katie Finneran
  • Genre: Horror comedy
  • Ratings: 6.3 – IMDB / 83% – Rotten Tomatoes

The girl has 24 hours to switch back into her body before the change becomes permanent. Unfortunately, the killer has plans to use his brand-new body.

Disney’s Freaky Friday movies are a major influence on this horror comedy. There’s lots of blood but also lots of great humor, and Vince Vaughn in particular, is clearly having fun when his character’s body is inhabited by the wallflower teenage girl.

The Invisible Man (2020)

Massive corporations have replaced countries in the near future. These huge businesses keep the populace under control via a violent professional sport called Rollerball. However, the sport’s most popular athlete may be getting too popular as far as the corporation’s leaders are concerned.

There’s lots of social commentary in this sci-fi classic, from the power of business on society to how professional sports can become a distraction for the masses. James Caan is great as Jonathan E, the Rollerball athlete who is not very bright at first, but slowly begins to realize this society is very flawed.

Mike Judge directed and co-wrote this movie, which answers the question, “What if Beavis and Butthead were everyone on the planet?” The movie is a funny satire that takes on issues like the environment, science and education, and even politics. It’s also a bit closer to reality than we would like.

  • Director: Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg
  • Main cast: James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen

A ton of well-known actors and other celebrities are at a party at James Franco’s house in Los Angeles. Then, the Biblical Apocalypse starts to happen, and some of the surviving actors try to hold up in the house, hoping they will ultimately be “saved.”

Lots of actors play fictional, and mostly selfish, versions of themselves in this funny R-rated comedy. They make fun of themselves and of the rich actor lifestyle in truly spectacular fashion.

In present-day New York City, a Scottish Highlander who is several hundred years old has to face a powerful and evil immortal and defeat him, or the world might be plugged into eternal darkness.

The original film in the expansive Highlander movie and TV franchise still has a great premise. It gets some help from original songs by Queen, some great sword-fighting sequences, and Sean Connery’s brief appearance as an immortal in flashbacks, where he helps Christopher Lambert’s character with his new powers.

UHF has gained a cult following since its release to theaters. Weird Al Yankovic is the perfect choice as the man who will try any kind of programming to raise ratings. It also offers some satire on things like talk shows, children’s series, and more.

Meryl Streep’s performance as Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly is the best thing about this film. A special team, led by cyborg soldier Major Motoko Kusanagi is assigned to take the hacker out. However, Kusanagi also has to deal with the possibility that the life she remembers living may be a lie.

This is still one of the best examples of Japanese anime film, with some spectacular visuals and art design, There are some great action sequences, and the plot of Kusanagi’s possibly false past is intriguing as well. This is the best adaptation of the Ghost in the Shell Japanese manga comic, although there are some good follow-up movies and TV shows. You can skip the recent live-action movie, though.
