A few days ago we asked you – including our readers Twitter and YouTube followers – for your thoughts on WhatsApp’s controversial privacy update. You had to choose one of four options – you agree with the new terms, you feel like you have no choice but to accept them, you are not okay and will no longer use WhatsApp, or you already have to another changed messaging app. This is how you voted in our survey.
Taking into account all the votes in our poll on our website, YouTube and Twitter accounts, 44.3% of respondents said they don’t like WhatsApp’s changes but feel they have no choice but to accept them accept. That shows how popular the app is and how many people aren’t ready to drop it yet.
Meanwhile, 26.6% of voters said they don’t like WhatsApp’s latest privacy standards and will no longer use the app. What’s even worse for WhatsApp is that 18.9% of respondents in our survey said they’d already switched to a different messaging app.

Only a fraction of our respondents – 10.11% to be precise – said they were okay with WhatsApp’s policy changes.
Here’s what you had to say
BlackSh33p: On the one hand, most of my family members here in the US use iPhones so they don’t even know what WhatsApp is. On the other hand, some friends have Android and are immigrants so they stick with WhatsApp. I’ll go anyway, but I’ll try to convince my friends to switch to Telegram.
Farhan Ahmad Tajuddin: Bring friends and family to the telegram? This is not easy for me as only a handful of my friends use Telegram. The rest just rely on WhatsApp.
Allexio: To make my family discord. I’m just glad I urged them to move there before this happened. Now I can safely delete my WhatsApp and still stay in touch.
@TrendyBossy: I changed the signal and none of my contacts were there.
@JJs_playground: Folks, the choice is yours, switch to the signal. I just did and everyone I know is on WhatsApp. But I’ve convinced some people to switch and I will convince others to switch too. Let’s teach Facebook a lesson.
@BalanceEven: I’m trying to get everyone to switch to Telegram. In the last few days I have been receiving a lot of notifications that many of my contacts have also migrated to Telegram. It also has more features. Time to bury WhatsApp.
@ Bfg26: It just shows you that we as humans think we can’t change the system. If everyone just moves to one new app, you’ll see how quickly these companies change the way they do business.
@ MrMathewJr: I might switch to Signal or Telegram, but it’s difficult to get family and friends to move too. It can be done, but it would definitely take time. What choice do I have at least until then?
