- Galaxy S20 users have filed a class action lawsuit against Samsung for broken camera glass.
- Lawyers claim Samsung knew about the problem and did nothing.
- Don’t expect a huge payout if this succeeds.
Did your Galaxy S20’s camera glass break without warning? If so, you might get compensation … someday. Users have filed a class action lawsuit against Samsung accusing the company of hiding a “widespread defect” in the camera glass of all Galaxy S20 models, including the Ultra and FE.
The lawsuit alleges that Samsung breached its warranty, committed fraud and violated “several” consumer protection laws by selling Galaxy S20 phones that had camera glass broken without warning or abuse. Samsung reportedly refused to cover the issue under warranty despite its staff being aware of the bug. A care ambassador said in a forum that this was due to a “build-up of pressure” under the glass, according to the plaintiffs’ lawyers at Hagens Berman.

Customers had to pay up to $ 400 for repairs just to break the glass again.
If the lawsuit progresses and gains class action status, attorneys would seek reimbursement for repairs to the Galaxy S20, compensation for “depreciation,” and other damage.
We asked Samsung for a comment.
The lawsuit could be good news for those who paid to have their Galaxy S20 fixed. However, don’t expect a big or timely payout even if lawyers come out on top. There is usually an extended claim period after a judgment or settlement, and payments are often diluted by legal fees and the sheer number of beneficiaries. There is no guarantee that you will get enough to cover repairs, let alone mitigate the purchase of a new phone.
