  • Samsung will launch the first F-series phone on October 8th.
  • The Galaxy F41 is expected to have a 6,000 mAh battery, three rear cameras and an AMOLED screen.
  • There is evidence that the F41 could be a Galaxy M31 reskin with fewer rear cameras.

Reports earlier this month indicated that Samsung would launch a new line of smartphones for India. Details were sparse, but there was evidence that the series would focus on camera smarts at an affordable price.

Now the company has announced a launch date for its first device in the series, the Samsung Galaxy F41, and it will arrive on October 8th.

The Galaxy F41 is published via a Flipkart list and has a 6,000 mAh battery and an AMOLED display. The renders also show an infinity U-notch on the front and a fingerprint scanner attached to the back. The camera hardware has three lenses in the rear array, but it’s not clear which sensor hardware they carry.

The Galaxy F41 appears to be remarkably similar to the Samsung Galaxy M31, which also has a similarly sized battery. In this case, the F41 expects a 6.4-inch display, the Exynos 9611 SoC and up to 6 GB of RAM. Interestingly, the Galaxy M31 has an additional camera on the back. Initial rumors that the F41 – at least compared to its siblings – is considered a camera-centric series seem a bit shaky.

Prices for the Galaxy F41 remain unclear, but early reports suggest a sub-Rs. 20,000 (~ $ 270) stickers that would tarnish Samsung’s mid-range offerings in India. The Galaxy M31 is priced at Rs. 15,999 (~ $ 216), and evidence so far suggests this may still be the better deal. Still, the new F series will give Samsung more presence in a price segment dominated by Xiaomi’s Poco and Realme.

Further details on the Galaxy F41 will be announced on October 8th at 5:30 p.m. IST (8:00 a.m. ET).
