  • PUBG Mobile breaks ties with Tencent Games in India.
  • The PUBG Corporation will assume all publication obligations in the future.
  • The move could help lift the PUBG Mobile ban in India.

PUBG Mobile India severed relations with the Chinese game retailer Tencent Games. The announcement by PUBG Corporation comes a few days after the popular Battle Royale mobile game was banned in India along with 117 other Chinese apps.

In its statement, PUBG Corporation states that it will no longer authorize the PUBG Mobile franchise for Tencent Games in India due to the ban. Instead, the company itself takes on all the publishing responsibilities for the mobile game within the country.

This means that PUBG Mobile and all future updates will be taken over by the South Korean video game company Bluehole, which in turn owns PUBG Corp. heard.

“The company is actively involved in the development and release of PUBG on multiple platforms, including PUBG Mobile in select areas, to deliver the best possible gaming experiences,” wrote PUBG Corporation on its website.

With this change in publishing practices, PUBG Mobile could soon be back in use in India. PUBG Corporation has not confirmed the lifting of the ban, but the whole reason for taking this step is to lose the image of a Chinese app in order to prevent current and future sanctions.

It is also unclear how player data will be treated in the future, but the company promises that “the privacy and security of player data is a top priority”. She hopes to “work hand in hand with the Government of India to find a solution” that will lift the PUBG Mobile ban in accordance with Indian laws and regulations.

“More updates will be made available at a later date as they become available,” the company added.
