Auto-rotate is one of the long-standing features of smartphones today, allowing phones to automatically switch apps and menus between portrait and landscape when the device is rotated appropriately.
Many smartphones have an auto-rotate switch in the Quick Settings section of the notification shade (see above), which allows you to turn auto-rotate on or off in a snap. But do you leave auto-rotate on your phone? Let us know via the poll at the bottom of the page.
We’re specifically talking about whether you’re using the system-wide automatic rotary switch in the notification shadow or in the settings menu. So if your phone is only set to rotate automatically when you view pictures and videos, you can vote no.
We’ve also seen recent Android versions and skins include a small rotate icon in the corner of the screen when the device detects that its orientation has changed. Tapping this symbol rotates the screen accordingly. Again, this does not apply to the use of the system-wide automatic rotary switch that appears in the drop-down menu or on the settings page.
You can give us your vote using the poll below and leave a comment if you have anything else to share.
