In the world of Android, Samsung is now the gold standard when it comes to Android updates. The company offers three versions of Android for almost all of its phones. For the fourth year, the company will continue to provide security updates quarterly. After that, the phone officially loses all support.
It looks like certain Oppo updates could get closer to this standard set by Samsung. According to Android PlanetOppo’s Find X3 series will now receive software support for three years. This isn’t quite as good as Samsung’s promise, as the phones would only get two Android upgrades in that three year period. However, it is certainly a step in the right direction.

For the sake of clarity, the Find X3 series currently includes Find X3 Neo, Find X3 Lite, and Find X3 Pro. The Vanilla Find X3 is only available in China right now but would obviously see the same update schedule as the others.
Unfortunately, other Oppo phones – including last year’s flagship Oppo Find X2 Pro – will only get the usual two years of updates.
According to Android PlanetOppo hopes the updates for the Find X3 series will take even longer. However, the company is still experimenting with its systems to see if four years of updates – and in theory three Android upgrades – are possible.
