Microsoft's Surface Pro8 can be the best Windows 2 -in -1 that you can buy, but companies like Lenovo are using the base design of the device to try new things with the form factor. Thinkpad X12 detachable is a good example of this, but Lenovo is now leaving again after the surface with the new Idea Duet 5i.
I got to try ahead of the Mobile World Congress and quickly came to know that this new Windows Tablet could do a task that cannot go on a surface pro or surface – and all this is thanks to the keyboard.

design
Ideapad Duet 5i is one of the most portable products in an ideapad lineup, traditionally connected to convertibles or laptops. It is a new 2 -in -1 tablet with an incredible contingent. As soon as you see its stone blue or storm gray color options, you will be eager to take it.
When catching it, Ideapad Duet 5i feels a lot like a surface. With a built -in kickstand, it can sit on someone's lap or on the desk, the screen is open at several angles. Round corners on the screen and a uniform bezel look and make it easy to hold in hand.
In terms of weight, the tablet surface is equal with Pro8, and even its cheap brothers -sales go to the surface 3. It weighs 1.78 pounds, with the keyboard adds another 0.79 pounds. It is slightly higher than the surface of 1.22 pounds, but it is not a major difference. Surface Pro 8, weighs 1.96 pounds.
Ideapad Duet 5i is super portable. I had no problem holding it with one hand for pictures in this piece. 3 like a surface, it is perfectly managed, and not too large, nor too small.
Keyboard and touchpad
Idea Duet 5I is the keyboard that makes 5i out of the competition. When going to a surface pro or surface, you can feel the urge to separate the keyboard and use it separately from your device, such as when you are plugged into the external monitor. Unfortunately, it is not possible on a surface, but on the IdeaPad couple, this is something you can enjoy at all.
Just pair the keyboard with the device using Bluetooth, separate it from the pogo port, and you are in action. But how does it feel?
Well, the keyboard and trackpad are as good as you will find on an ideapad laptop. There is a lot of major journey, and slightly curved kicap is smooth. The trackpad may be slightly larger, but it is quite responsible for all inputs, especially when web browsing. If anything, it is true what you expect from the surface type cover, add the content of the fabric. The option of Lenovo is all plastic.
Display
Another signature feature of Ideapad Duet 5i is its 12-inch 2.5K resolution (2650 x 1600) IPS touchscreen display. Unlike a surface Pro or 3: 2, this panel is in 16:10 aspect ratio. This allows for more vertical information, with low scrolling in situations such as web browsing.
The 2K resolution here is also higher than the surface Go 3, which comes in 1920 x 1280. It is a large tool, but it has more screen space to stack the Windows side on the side. Doing so on a surface can be difficult at 3 because the screen is getting tight.
I enjoyed this performance in my brief hands. Drawing in microsoft paint with alternative active pen 3 made immersive and natural, and promoted the same bezels, as well as 96% DCI-93 Rang Sargam and 450 NITs shine. Lenovo also stated that the device supports the wide color range of Dolby Vision and conversely, to increase the pleasure of view.
Ports
The Ideapad Duet 5i has two USB-C ports and one audio jack. This is almost the same as surface Pro8, only the surface connect port of the device with exception. Like Pro8, there is no expandability through MicroSD card slot.
The USB-C, however, means that you can enjoy the output for 4K displays as well as high-speed data transfer. These can be important for those who are working from home. Nevertheless, the port choice means that the dongle will be something that you have to buy, which is just a minor inconvenience.
Performance and battery life
There is a chip under the hood of Ideapad Duet 5i that can surprise you. It sports the Intel Core i7-1255U, Core i7-1345U, Core i3-1215U, or Pentium 8505. These are low-power u-series chips, but it is surprising to see that Lenovo managed to fit the core i7 power in a small chassis.
Thesmaller surface 3 only maximizes with a core i3 chip, so Lenovo is definitely something that is not microsoft. The company also tells me that the Idea Duet 5I Sports Intelligent Cooling System that keeps the temperature a minimum under heavy load and fan noise.
I could not run the benchmark to confirm the claims of any performance, but just worked on this Windows Tablet to play with light web browsing and system apps. As far as battery life is concerned, Lenovo claimed up to 11 hours and cited a Mobilmark 2018 test result. We are ready to test more, but it has become an average result with most devices, including the surface go3.
Price and availability
The Ideapad Duet 5I detecble with the keyboard folios bundled with alternative backlighting will begin at $ 750 and start in July 2022. This $ 750 configuration comes only with Pentium 8505, so you will have to pay more to upgrade to more powerful Intel core chips.
