It’s hard to resist the silliness of ‘Emily in Paris’ – ProWellTech
“Emily in Paris”, a new series on Netflix, sparked skeptical reactions from royal Parisians who are happy to point out the many clichés in her story of a young American (played by Lily Collins) who moves into a marketing agency in Paris at the last minute.
A few moments of fairly obvious culture clash follow, along with equally far-fetched storylines in which Emily’s extremely basic social media ideas are treated as controversial and revolutionary by her employer.
Yet as we discuss the latest episode of the Original Content podcast, we actually found the show delightful – or at the very least, highly watchable.
Yes, the Paris of the show is a fantasy, but it is a fantasy that we are happy to visit, especially now. Yes, most of the characters in the show are basically cartoons, but they are fun and funny cartoons. And after all, we’re all fanatics of a romantic getaway comedy, which is exactly what “Emily in Paris” delivers.
