iOS 14 Now Available To Download: New Features And Supported Devices
As Apple promised at yesterday’s “Time Flies” event, iOS 14 has finally arrived for iPhone users to download.
To install the update, go to iPhone settings> General> Software update and wait for the iOS 14 update to appear. The update is almost 3.5 GB in size, more or less depending on the device you are using.
Apple first unveiled iOS 14 at the WWDC 2020 event in June. Until now, the update has been in beta testing, but now all iPhone users can install the stable iOS 14 version.
Main features of iOS 14
iOS 14 comes with aredesigned home screenwhich now supportswidgets, something Android users have had for years. Widgets can be shaped into three different sizes via the widget gallery. You can also add aSmart batteryWidgets where the device intelligently displays the widget based on your usage.
The other biggest interface change in iOS 14 is the newApplication library. It looks more or less like an app drawer; only applications are automatically organized in separate folders. Fortunately, iPhone users now have the option to delete entire homepages.
You can now take calls without leaving the app, thanks to the newcompact call designin iOS 14. One of my favorite iOS 14 features is Picture-in-Picture, which I use to watch YouTube and use other apps at the same time.
Siri no longer takes up the entire screen, but waking up Siri causes a smallcolorful orb. However, you still cannot interact with what is behind the screen. Other than that, Apple claims Siri is smarter and can now answer a wider range of questions.
iOS 14 introducedApplication clipswhere specific features of an app can be used without needing to fully download the app, like making a restaurant reservation, buying a coffee, etc.
When it comes to privacy, iOS 14 displays camera access and mic access indications at the top to notify users in the event of misuse. The Safari browser has aprivacy reportwhere it shows which websites have trackers.
There is also a newTranslate the appwhich supports text and voice translation from 11 languages. Apart from that, you can finally set a third-party browser and default email app.
The new update also adds new features to the Messaging app, such as conversation pinning, online replies to keep conversations clean, online replies, etc.

While regular users have gone astray for iOS 14, app developers are far from happy. Apple usually releases a Golden Master copy so that app developers can do the finishing touches and prepare their app for the latest version of iOS 14. But this time, Apple ditched iOS 14 out of nowhere, forcing developers to move on. all night and rushing their apps. Some have not received Apple’s approval for the app.
