How to schedule a text with Google Messages

There are many reasons why you might want to schedule a text with Google Messages. You might want to remind your husband to let the dog out in the morning or you might want to acknowledge that you are still hanging out with a group of friends for a drink. Anyway, scheduling this news is actually pretty easy.

However, before we start with the instructions, there is something you need to know quickly. This is a relatively new feature for the Messages app, so some may not have it yet. If you try these steps and get stuck, you probably haven’t seen the server-side update that enables this feature yet. You have to wait for the update before it will work properly.

How to schedule a text with Google Messages

  1. Open the Messages app on your phone and either start a new conversation or enter an existing one.
  2. Enter the message you want to schedule as usual. However, do not press the Send button.
  3. When your message is composed, Tap and hold the Send buttonwhich initiates the scheduled messaging function.
  4. You can send your message at certain times. Conversely, you can choose an exact time of your choice.
  5. If you want to set up your own schedule, a calendar and time selection will appear. Fill it out with the appropriate information.
  6. If everything looks correct, click “Save”. You will then see the selected time and date above your message and a new clock icon on the “Send” button.
  7. Tap the Send button and your message is scheduled.
