How much money per month do you spend on streaming services?

Streaming services became an integral part of many households even before the pandemic got people indoors. It’s not hard to see why – with relatively little effort per month, you can have unlimited access to more games, music, and TV shows than you could ever buy, rent, or even store on your devices. The monthly cost can easily make sense, especially if your household is voraciously devouring content.

How much you’re willing to spend on streaming services is a different story. Are you just willing to pay for a provider or two that you know you use every day, or are you all-in? Of course, this assumes that you are interested at all. If you prefer to keep permanent copies of everything, streaming can easily be a non-starter.

There are cases for and against high expenses. Many of the best shows take place on providers such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus or Netflix. The cost of subscribing to multiple streaming video services can easily be justified when you want to watch it all. And if you’re a gamer, you can get an instant library with a service like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PlayStation Now, or Switch Online. Music services like Spotify and Apple Music can also be easy to justify if you are constantly looking for hot new albums.

At the same time, there is little doubt that subscription service fatigue is a very real thing. A $ 10 fee here or there isn’t much, but it can add up quickly if you’re a completist. Once you’ve cut the cost of cables, it doesn’t make sense to pay as much (or more) for the streaming services they replaced. And yes, subscription services do not inherently leave permanent copies. If you prefer permanent collections, it might make more sense to limit streaming to the services that don’t keep you tied to the content.
