HD Medical hopes to bridge the gap between your home and the doctor’s office with HealthyU, a small device that remotely measures your vital signs and sends them straight to your doctor.

Telemedicine has become a necessity during the global pandemic as more and more patients seek telephone consultations to avoid going to a clinic. But there is still a lot that cannot be measured remotely.

Look at that:

HealthyU delivers a 7-lead EKG to your doorstep

This is where HealthyU comes in. It has a seven-lead electrocardiogram (also known as an EKG or EKG) and measures blood oxygen levels, body temperature, breathing rate, and blood pressure. In other words, it can measure anything that you would normally examine on a visit to the doctor.

To use it, place the device on the electrodes on the front of your chest with two fingers. In addition to the electrodes, it has a temperature sensor and an optical sensor.

While it’s not a 12-lead EKG you would get in a hospital, the HealthyU’s 7-lead EKG paints a more complete picture of what’s going on in the heart than, say, a smartwatch with similar functions. In comparison, the Apple Watch or Fitbit Sense only have a head start. It can also be placed in different places on the chest to collectively provide a 12-lead EKG.

Once you have your measurements, the device can be paired with your phone or computer and send this information to your doctor for interpretation. HealthyU can serve as a screening tool to determine whether or not your problem requires a personal visit.

The company plans to make the device available to both health care providers and the general public pending FDA approval later this year.
