Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 bids farewell after five years of bliss
They know what they are saying: All good things have to end. And theis very Good. That makes his ending a difficult pill to swallow, but one we have to take anyway. On Thursday, Ford confirmed the Shelby GT350 and the even racy GT350R this autumn.
Ford made the announcement the same waywho have favourited Carroll Shelby’s original 1965 GT350 models with a shade of Wimbledon White and Guardsman Blue. In fact, the Heritage Edition acts as the swan song of the GT350 and GT350R. If you have to, the lovely retro colors are a great way to find out. At the end of production, Ford said: “With the 760 hp Shelby GT500 now in full swing, we will end production of the Shelby GT350 and GT350R as planned in the fall. This is the path for newcomers to continue our passionate Mustang To inspire fans for the 2021 model year – including the limited edition Mach 1. “
The GT350 quickly stole our hearts here at the roadshow, with a beautiful 5.2 liter naturally aspirated flat V8 V8 that not only performed well, but also had one of the best American V8 soundtracks that money can buy. Fortunately, it gets stuck in the Shelby GT500, even though Ford hits a compressor on it in the GT500 application – a naturally aspirated engine has something that’s always very appealing.
While there is no replacement for the GT350, the new one iswill endeavor to carry the car’s flashlight for the time being. Ford introduced the limited edition Mach 1 with 20 hp more than a standard Mustang GT for a total of 480 hp earlier this year. Essentially, it builds a bridge from the GT to the now discontinued GT350. It’s also bundled with a shipload of Ford Performance parts and even gets the GT350’s six-speed manual gearbox with speed adjustment. We’re still months away from the Mach 1 dealers so we don’t know how much it will cost, but it should be less than the GT350 if I had to guess. Maybe the middle range of $ 40,000?
We can’t wait to saddle up and try a Mach 1, but we will undoubtedly miss the GT350.
