Asus introduces new Zenbooks and more at CES 2021

Asus ZenBook Duo 15

  • Asus announced four new laptops at CES.
  • They are part of the ZenBook, VivoBook and TUF series.
  • The laptops are mainly aimed at professionals and gamers.

Asus already gave us some compelling announcements around the ROG brand at CES 2021, but that’s not all Asus has up its sleeves. The brand took off some new laptops aimed at professionals, gamers, and everyday users who demand a little more from their devices.

The first is the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582), which has a secondary display that the company calls ScreenPad Plus. It is located directly above the keyboard, offers 4K resolution and has an automatic tilt mechanism that automatically raises the back of the display 9.5 degrees for better readability. The secondary display is designed to take your productivity to the next level, although not everyone will find it useful.

When it comes to power, the device packs the Intel Core i9 processor together with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU under the hood. This means it should handle just about any task you perform with ease. Other specs and features include 1TB of SSD storage, a 4K display, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a pen that is useful for designers and other creatives.

Asus Zenbook Duo 14

If you’re looking for something a little smaller, less powerful, and a little cheaper, the new ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482) might be better for you. It also has a secondary display like its bigger brother that works well with the 14-inch full HD main panel. It is powered by the Intel Core i7 processor and comes with the Nvidia GeForce MX450 / Intel Iris Xe GPU.

The battery has a nominal capacity of 70 Wh and should be able to be used for about 17 hours according to Asus. The laptop is thin (16.9 mm), light (1.6 kg) and designed for portability. There is no pen included so you will need to purchase one separately if you need it.

Asus Vivobook S14

Next up is the VivoBook S14 (S435), a 14-inch laptop that may not have a secondary screen but is still powerful enough to handle demanding tasks. It has an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris X graphics and 16 GB of RAM. Thanks to the 1 TB PCIe SSD, there is enough storage space for the average user. The laptop is quite compact, has a screen-to-body ratio of 90% and weighs only 1.2 kg. It is equipped with some Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a microSD card reader, among other things.

TUF Dash F15

The last new Asus laptop announced at CES is aimed at gamers and is called the TUF Dash F15. The display offers a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and a response time of 3 ms. There is a Thunderbolt 4 port on board, which you can use to connect external GPUs, for example, while the battery allows more than 16 hours of video playback. There’s no shortage of power available as the laptop stows an Intel Core i7 processor along with a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU under the hood.

The TUF Dash F15 is also quite robust, despite its slim profile. Asus claims it is resistant to everyday bumps and bumps, as well as extreme temperatures, which allows you to use the laptop in slightly tougher conditions.

Pricing and availability for all four laptops have not yet been announced. We’ll update this post as we learn more on the subject. So stay tuned.
