  • Amazfit has announced that the Zepp Z watch will be launched in India next week.
  • The watch will retail for 25,999 rupees, the US price.

Amazfit brought the Zepp Z onto the market for the first time at the end of 2020, marking the Zepp brand’s second foray into the smartwatch sector. It took a long time but the chic looking watch is finally getting an Indian start.

Amazfit has announced that the Zepp Z will be launched in India on Tuesday July 20th. The watch will be available on Amazon and has a retail price of Rs 25,999 (~ $ 349) which is the same as US prices. Then what do you get for the price?

Well the main attraction is the classic design, but you also get GPS support, heart rate and SPO2 tracking, wireless charging, offline voice commands (and Alexa via OTA update), and other typical smartwatch features. The latter includes support for app / call / text notifications, music controls and the ability to find my phone.

Unfortunately, our own C Scott Brown found in his Zepp Z test that the watch was way too expensive for what you actually got. He lamented the lack of NFC, local storage, third-party apps, and Wi-Fi, while also denouncing the poor accuracy of the health tracking and companion app. On the other hand, Scott praised the watch for its design, “outstanding” battery life, voice commands and wireless charging.

Still, the smartwatch segment is a dense space and there is no shortage of quality options. You can check out our guide to the best smartwatches at the previous link.
