6 movies of recent times with best user interfaces

6 movies of recent times : The user interface (UI) is everything designed into an information device with which a human being may interact. It includes display screen, keyboard, mouse and light pen, the appearance of desktop, illuminated characters and help messages. In early computers, there was very little user interface except for a few buttons at an operator’s console but now it’s quiet commonplace including their use in movies.

We bring you 6 movies of recent times with best user interfaces.

Avatar

  Avatar

Avatar took the idea of virtual reality to a whole new level, grossing over $2 billion. Avatar brought virtual reality technologies to possibly their ultimate conclusion. It was where one man can control another alien body using the power of the mind. Touch screen and gesture technologies were front and centre throughout. It portrayed an exciting and somewhat dark and depressing future for user interface technology.

Quantum of Solace

  Quantum of Solace

James Bond wouldn’t be anywhere without his gadgets. Bond wouldn’t be half as cool.  So it was only right that the secret service’s meeting room table was turned into a touch screen computer. Synonymous to Microsoft Pixel Sense, but cooler.

Prometheus

  Prometheus

It’s safe to say the blockbuster’s futuristic interface technologies implemented within robots, spaceships, and even alien architecture was stunning. Rather than an overly scientific feel, the team at Territory took influences from coral reefs and abstract art. It gave an organic feel to their interface designs. Prometheus had mixed reviews.

 Iron Man

  Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man does much of his interfacing via a hologrammatic display inside his helmet even when he’s flying. Tony Stark’s helmet holograms brought a new looks to movie interfaces. No one can deny this is very cool. When there is something cool in imaginary sci-fi, it’s a good sign that we’ll eventually see in it real life. The incredible FX work Perception NYC was hired for Iron Man 2. They did its interfaces too.

Mission Impossible 4

  Mission Impossible 4

The fourth in the Mission Impossible series upped the ante further in terms of both action and technology. The Mission Impossible juggernaut seems unstoppable. Even those who find Tom Cruise unbearable to watch have admitted a grudging respect for the success of this action franchise. Like its forerunners, and indeed other Cruise movies, number four features a range of cool-looking, futuristic touch screens that make us fall in love with interface technology, may be just a little bit more.

The Avengers Assemble

  The Avengers Assemble

The musclemen fought the bad guys and the backroom boys and girls used a variety of stylish technologies to keep the show on the road. The 2012 big superhero movie focused more on its muscle bound personalities than fancy technology. There was still a lot of cool glass-screen input technology flickering away in the background. It made sure everything ran smoothly as the super friends strutted their stuff.

Some of the technologies we witness in Hollywood’s interpretations of the future are far fetched. A lot of the tech seen in these movies is already being utilized throughout the world.
